must see:
Dazed and Confused

Richard Linklater - Dazed and ConfusedTagline: “It was the last day of school in 1976, a time they'd never forget... if only they could remember.

A true classic in the vein of American Grafitti, Fast Times at Ridgemont High or The Breakfast Club, and just as entertaining. One of the best films from Linklater and a true 'must-see' for any wannabe filmmakers out there like myself. If you're from the 70's you'll flip over how accurate the film is, but if you're not, you'll still connect with at least one of these characters. Accurate to it's generation but timeless in every way. The soundtrack alone is worth the viewing. Damn, I love this film!!

Akira Kurosawa's Dreams

Dreams of Akira KurosawaTagline: “The past, present, and future. The thoughts and images of one man... for all men. One man's dreams... for every dreamer.

This eight episodic masterpiece showcases the vision of the director known more for his other films. His awareness of man's interaction with nature and our societal impact on our world is beatifully intertwined into these stories. Highly visual and disturbingly enchanting, you can't help but get caught up in his dreams.

Run Lola Run

Run Lola RunTagline: “Jeden Tag, jede Sekunde triffst Du eine Entscheidung, die Dein Leben verändern kann.” “Each day, each second you make a decision, which can change your life.

A young woman in Germany has twenty minutes to find and bring 100,000 Deutschmarks to her boyfriend before he robs a supermarket.

High adreniline rush with great action and integration of animated sequences. Beyond the action and cinematography is where this film delivers though. It's the story that I find most interesting and something that I have pursued in my own work, our actions affect others.

Helvetica

HelveticaHelvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives.

Helvetica is a very interesting and well researched and delivered documentary. While it will be of interest to design students and scholars of all ages, it will be just as interesting to non-designers.
